About the Role The MRC Biostatistics Unit (BSU) at the University of Cambridge is seeking a dynamic and creative Communications Manager to lead the delivery of our communications strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how cutting-edge research in biostatistics is communicated to a broad range of audiences, including researchers, policymakers, industry partners, and the public. You will play a central role in raising the profile and impact of the Unit's work through compelling storytelling, strategic outreach, and innovative digital engagement.

Key Responsibilities

-Lead and deliver the Unit's communications strategy across multiple platforms and audiences

-Develop engaging content to support research dissemination, public engagement, and stakeholder communications

-Manage and enhance the Unit's digital presence, including website and social media channels

-Coordinate and deliver knowledge exchange and engagement events (e.g. workshops, seminars, public lectures)

-Work closely with researchers to translate complex scientific outputs into accessible and impactful communications

-Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including funders and collaborators

-Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of communications activities and campaigns

-Ensure all communications align with University and funder policies and brand guidelines

About you You will be an experienced communications professional with a strong track record of delivering impactful strategies and campaigns. You will be equally comfortable working strategically and hands-on with content creation.

Essential skills and experience include:

-Proven experience in communications, marketing, or public engagement (ideally within higher education, research, or a related sector)

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information for diverse audiences

-Experience managing websites, social media, and digital content platforms

-Strong organisational skills and experience delivering events and campaigns

-Ability to work collaboratively with academics and professional services colleagues

-A proactive, creative, and adaptable approach

Desirable

-Knowledge of the research landscape, particularly in health, data science, or biostatistics

-Experience in knowledge exchange or impact delivery activities About the MRC Biostatistics Unit
