AMD Datacentre division with offices in the Cambridge UK is on a rapid growth path and has roles for new graduates to join 2022.  Successful candidates will be working on products at the leading edge of computer and network architecture.  Next generation products being developed target the phenomenal growth in data-rates, achieving designs with transaction rates in the billions per second per device, each device scaling out to every system in cloud datacentres. 

Successful candidates will be embedded in a team, assigned a mentor and after initial training, rapidly start contributing to the team’s development goals.  Depending on interest and the assigned team, the types of software development can encompass embedded computing, networking, hypervisor virtualization, cryptograpthy, storage, operating system/datacentre design, distributed systems, software and systems architecture, trusted secure computing, hardware modelling, high-level FPGA synthesis , VLSI design, performance optimization, continuous integration and automated test.  Some opportunities include working in opensource communities and working directly with customers, that include working with some of the world’s leading technology companies.  All roles require working across the global teams within AMD.  AMD offers flexible pathways for career development.

Requirements

  • PhD qualified available from 2022 or candidates with 1-2 years of relevant post graduate industry experience. 
  • Bachelors or Masters Computer Science or Electronic Engineering, with consideration given to other science/math’s degrees.
  • Candidates experience should demonstrate proven successes in software development practices with hands-on execution, showing knowledge of key software engineering tools and working practices.
  • Knowledge of distributed version control/code collaboration (i.e. git/github), software development on Linux-OSes, scripting languages (python or other), C/C++ or other core languages and good foundational understanding of networking and computer design
