Research Grants Administrator (Part Time)*

Reporting to the Research Grants co-ordinator, this post fulfils a crucial role in assisting the management and administration of all of the research grants and research activity and provides a service to all academic and research staff through the raising of grant applications, expenditure forecasting, and responsibility for all research grant queries and problems.

Working alongside another Research Grants Administrator, the main focus of the post will be costing research grant projects and assisting in the preparation of research grant applications. However, duties will also include the preparation and coordination of research grant activity through every stage of the process from initial enquiry through to grant end, including the administration of awards.

The successful candidate will be required to work accurately and efficiently across a number of IT and web based packages, making strong IT skills an essential requirement. They will also have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. Combined with the ability to deal with a wide range of people at all levels, the candidate must have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, be able to use own initiative and meet deadlines under pressure.

Candidates should be educated to at least HND, HNC, Level 4/5 vocational qualification or equivalent level of practical experience, with GCSE in English and Mathematics. Previous general administrative experience in a computerised environment is beneficial and experience of research grants or accounts based experience working in a Higher Education environment is desirable.

  • This position is for a maximum of 22 hours per week, days and hours to be worked will be negotiable on appointment.

There is a possibility for some hybrid working when fully trained but there is an expectation of a minimum of two working days in the department.
