You will contribute to the overall system architecture discussions, focussing on the microfluidics system concept definition, before working through prototyping phases to deliver our product to market.
In addition to the ground-up instrument design there is requirement to maintain and evolve the microfluidic elements of the test rigs and experimental platforms that our scientific team use for their research and development activities.
This is an early strategic appointment in the growth of the Mechanical Engineering team and there is scope to influence future recruits in the microfluidics area to complement your own skill set.
Skills and experience
You will be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering with significant industry experience including at least 5 years’ experience focussed on microfluidics system design, development and manufacture.
Essential experience
- Track record in delivering microfluidic system and device designs
- Experience in developing novel solutions where microfluidics flow control and thermal management influences complex chemical reactions
- Direct experience of taking fundamental problem-solving ideas through to manufacturable solutions
- Skilled in 3D CAD, preferably Solidworks
Desirable skills
- Proficient with finite element analysis for fluidics systems and thermodynamic analysis
- Experience of working within a quality management system, for example ISO13485
- Project leadership/project management (line management experience not required)
- Background of working on scientific or diagnostics instrument design
Benefits
This opportunity comes with an attractive benefits package which includes a contributory pension, private medical care, life assurance as well as the opportunity to partake in the staff equity scheme.
