Tim began his career back in the mid-eighties as an Apprentice Aircraft Fitter, completing his qualification in 1989 and has used the experience and expertise he has gained over 35 years to progress to his current role in Land Systems as a Senior Support Services Manager. He manages Land System contracts and has been to RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland four times since last September (including last week at very short notice) to assist with a runway resurfacing programme and its effect on the arrestor systems installed there.
His career inspired his twin sons Matt and Josh to follow in his footsteps by starting apprenticeships with Marshall 30ish years later.
Matt originally started with Marshall Motor Group in their Ford Light Commercial Vehicle Department, attending Ford Academy at Daventry and completing his Ford Advanced Apprenticeship in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair in March 2018. In early 2019, he decided he wanted a change of scenery and transferred to Marshall Land Systems as an Assembly and Installation Fitter. Through the family’s hallmark hard work and determination, he was soon promoted to Skilled Assembly and Installation Fitter. Since, he’s been part of various Marshall Land Systems projects and has been trained to survey and repair MOD pressure washers, which are part of a Multi-purpose Decontamination System the MoD deploy for chemical and nuclear containment such as the Novichok poisoning in Salisbury.
Josh always had an interest in engineering and mechanics, having studied at Cambridge Regional College before becoming a Machinist Apprentice in September 2015. He quickly adapted to a different working environment and was soon promoted to Multi-Skilled Machinist in Manufacturing Support in June 2019. Recently, he found himself at the heart of the team who helped to develop and prototype the new exovent negative pressure ventilator last summer – rubbing shoulders with some of the UK’s pre-eminent medics who helped refine the design for maximum comfort.
