Professor Taylor joins Anglia Ruskin from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, where she has worked for the last 15 years, most recently in the role of Acting Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Her research and consultancy interests include the first year student experience, retention and attrition of students, selection of students, social capital as a theoretical basis for student retention; and midwifery education in rural Malawi.
Professor Taylor, who is a member of the Royal College of Nursing Education Forum committee, has had extensive involvement with Scottish Government and NHS Education for Scotland as an expert on student retention.
She is currently working with the Quality Assurance Agency Scotland on flexible curriculum and, as a Florence Nightingale Foundation leadership scholar, is evaluating the Foundation’s travel and research scholarships.
Professor Hampton-Till will combine his role as Deputy Dean within the Faculty with his position as Director of Research at Anglia Ruskin’s Postgraduate Medical Institute (PMI).
His research interests include novel recruitment and retention strategies in parallel and cross-over pragmatic clinical trials with and without run-in periods, and clinical trials of medical devices.
During 2012, Professor Hampton-Till set up the Anglia Ruskin Clinical Trials Unit (ARCTU) – a research co-operative between the PMI and seven NHS partner organisations – which has been formally recognised by Quintiles, the world’s largest contract research organisation. He is also Director of ARCTU and holds a professorial chair in clinical trials medicine.
