A total of 55 students on the Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeships (CMDA) course, which is run in partnership with Barclays PLC, will host a range of fundraising activities while also working on a project of identifying and creating a sustainable method of generating income for the charity, and raising awareness of its work outside its community.
Rainbows is one of a limited number of hospices for children and young people that, in addition to providing care and support for children and babies, also offers the same care and support opportunities for young adults between the ages of 18 and 30.
The charity fundraising activity, partly taking place next week during National Apprentice Week, forms part of one of the apprentices’ Level 4 modules Enterpreneurship & Enterprise Realities.
David Gillan, one of the students on the new two-year Fast Track CMDA programme, launched by Anglia Ruskin in October, said: “Working on the Rainbows project has been a fantastic experience and very rewarding. Being able to spend time using the skills I have developed to help life-limited children has made the project less like work and has motivated me to do more in supporting Rainbows.”
Tom Stanyard, Corporate Partnership Fundraiser at Rainbows Hospice, said: “We’re delighted to be involved with the Anglia Ruskin University and Barclays’ apprenticeship programme for a second year running.
“With three cohorts this year the fundraising target is also higher, which is fantastic news for the families who rely on Rainbows as we only receive a little statutory funding each year. I’ve been incredibly humbled by the engagement and dedication of all the students – they’re a real credit to Anglia Ruskin University and Barclays and we really can’t thank them enough.”
Vanessa Knowles, Course Leader of the CMDA programme at Anglia Ruskin, said: “The apprenticeship programme doesn’t just help with the students’ own personal development. Through the project activities, the students help to have a positive impact on the lives of others as well.”
