ASICs, MEMS and tyre pressure monitors explained at Cambridge conference

Designer and manufacturer of custom electronic devices (ASIC and MEMS), SWINDON Silicon Systems, will be exhibiting at next week's Cambridge Embedded Systems and Realtime Software conference.

Leading ASIC and MEMS specialist SWINDON Silicon has announced that it will be exhibiting at The UK Device Developers Conference to be held near Cambridge on Thursday 14th May.

Members of the SWINDON Silicon Systems team will be available to explain how ASICs are developed and to discuss the many benefits of ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) technology, as well as demonstrating a vehicle tyre pressure monitoring device that utilises ASIC technology.

The UK Device Developers' Conference is a one-day conference for engineers and computer scientists involved in the development of intelligent systems and devices. It is an event that explores the very latest tools and technologies available and includes a vendor exhibition, half-day technical workshops and a series of informative technical presentations.

"There are a number of commercial and technical advantages to using a custom ASIC as part of an embedded system," said Sharon Moore, Sales Administrator at Swindon Silicon.  “Using an ASIC can help reduce the cost of the end product and may also reduce its size and power consumption.  Furthermore an ASIC based design could also result in better noise, bandwidth and leakage performance, as well as reducing EMI susceptibility and radiated EMI.”

SWINDON Silicon Systems has over 35 years of experience in the design, test and supply of mixed signal ASICs. The company delivers more than 60 million devices globally every year in industries such as automotive, industrial sensors, process control, aerospace, defence and healthcare. The company has in-house design and production teams and works in partnership with specialist foundries

“We are very pleased to have SWINDON Silicon Systems exhibiting at the Conference,” said Richard Blackburn, Conference Manager. “ They really are experts in this field and have a lot of real-world experience. This is what the Conference is all about, the sharing of knowledge and experience relating to leading edge design technology. “

The Device Developers’ Conference is to take place in Reading, Cambridge, Warrington and Uphall (Scotland) during May and June 2015.  The Conference, including the technical presentations, is free to engineers and technical project managers. A small charge is made for places on the half-day technical workshops.
