Bloody Human Rights! Colour Films makes a documentary about a powerful piece of theatre

If you were given the tools to create change, what would you do? This is what Alan Dignam wanted to find out. His interactive theatre project explores the power of interventions and encourages discussion and communication, prompting legislative solutions from the public.

Alan Dignam, Professor of Corporate Law at Queen Mary, University of London, has researched Amnesty International case studies for 20 years. During this time, he's encountered some extremely difficult and complex cases where business laws don't go hand in hand with human rights and morals.

The same issues kept recurring year after year, which drove Alan into action. Thus the project Human Rights! Bloody Human Rights! was born in collaboration with Amnesty International, Queen Mary University of London and Cambridge's very own Menagerie Theatre Company.

Colour Films, the Cambridge-based video and film production company, was asked to get involved in the project to film the process of getting the play off the pages and up onto the stage in front of a live audience.
