The Unite Summer Business Forum is bringing together likeminded exhibitors and speakers to help drive sustainability through collaboration. Elms Cambridge and brand communications specialists Method are hosting the event at the BMW showroom in Cambourne on 10 July. The forum will focus on thinktank hub sessions where ideas and expertise will be exchanged.
One of those hosting a hub will be the Low Carbon KEEP programme, which has designated more than £3.2 million of ERDF funding to support collaboration between SMEs and research providers on ‘low carbon’ projects in the East of England. The scheme helps businesses to improve their competitiveness by working with an academic and a graduate.
Low Carbon KEEP Programme Administrator Georgi Mirazchiev said: “Unite is the perfect event for us because it’s all about working together to build a stronger future, and that’s exactly what we strive to achieve. We help build mutually beneficial partnerships between businesses and universities, and are looking forward to sharing our experiences on 10 July.”
The Low Carbon KEEP programme recently engineered a collaboration between Anglia Ruskin University and Calex Electronics. Together they developed a new infrared temperature sensor which is capable of operating in high ambient temperatures without cooling and, coupled with a new design and marketing philosophy appealing to energy-conscious customers, Calex has become more competitive in global industrial markets.
Gary Fuller, managing director at Calex Electronics, said: “The project has been a resounding success. The new sensor gives customers a great opportunity to improve their energy efficiency and Calex a significant edge over its competitors.”
