Cambourne 10k presents Papworth Trust with £4,000 donation

Organisers behind a popular annual 10k run have presented a cheque for £4,000 to the main beneficiary of this year’s event.

Leading disabiity charity Papworth Trust was supported by the Cambourne 10k which saw more than 1,000 runners take part in both the competitive race and fun run.

Members of the organising committee recently visited the charity’s headquarters in Papworth Everard to present the cheque and hear how the money raised will make a direct difference to the lives of local disabled and older people.

Emma Blint, individual giving executive at Papworth Trust, said: “We were delighted to be a main beneficiary of this year’s Cambourne 10k.

“We know how much hard work went into organising such a fantastic event and we would like to thank everyone involved, as well as all the runners, for their support of Papworth Trust.”

Now in its eighth year, the event has raised a staggering £65,000 for charity since its inception.

Beth Jones, from the organising committee for the Cambourne 10k, said: “We're so pleased to contribute something towards Papworth Trust's constant hard work for the equality and quality of lives of people with disabilities, both now and in the future.

“All the participants of the 10K and the Fun Run helped raise the money with their entry so a huge thanks goes out to them.

“The provisional date for next year's race is Sunday 2nd April 2017 so we hope everyone saves the date in their diary and then enters later in the year when bookings open.”
