Cambridge CMOS Sensors deliver the world's smallest gas sensor

Cambridge CMOS Sensors Ltd (CCS) announced today that it has selected the ASE Group as its semiconductor assembly and test partner to deliver the world’s smallest metal-oxide (MOX) gas sensors, geared specifically towards consumer applications.

Cambridge CMOS Sensors Ltd (CCS) announced today that it has selected the ASE Group as its semiconductor assembly and test partner to deliver the world’s smallest metal-oxide (MOX) gas sensors, geared specifically towards consumer applications.The CCS800 product family of ultra-low power miniature gas sensors can be used for detecting Ethanol (Alcohol) and hazardous gases such as Carbon Monoxide (CO) and a wide range of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) including Formaldehyde. The compact 2.0mm x 3.0mm cavity DFN package developed with ASE enables the use of gas sensors in application areas that have not been physically possible before now, such as, within smartphones, tablets and wearable devices.

Leveraging MEMS packaging expertise firmly established at the ASE facility in Chung Li, Taiwan has provided a solid platform on which to develop innovative assembly and test technologies, ultimately enabling CCS gas sensor products to meet cost, quality and capacity demands of target consumer applications.
