Cambridge Regional College is a finalist in national education awards

Cambridge Regional College has made it to the finals of national awards for its innovative approach to careers and enterprise.

The college has been shortlisted for the 2020 Beacon Awards which recognise excellence in education.

David Hughes, Chief Executive of the Association of Colleges, which organises the Awards, said: “These colleges have shown great innovation in highly effective engagement with schools, employers and other agencies, to provide learners with excellent impartial careers education, advice and guidance. Enabling learners to make informed choices about their progression to further study and training, including apprenticeships will have a lasting effect on the rest of their lives.”

Michelle Dowse, Deputy Principal of Cambridge Regional College (pictured), said: “Ensuring that our students are equipped with the skills, knowledge and behaviours to succeed in industry, is something we are particularly passionate about.

“We are delighted that our innovative approach to careers provision, that the ongoing engagement with local employers to ensure our students are career ready and that our highly trained and enthusiastic team have been commended. We work hard to ensure our students have an outstanding experience of education and leave CRC, life ready, work ready and career ready.

“We pride ourselves on the range of opportunities that we offer for all of our students - whether they are full or part time, have just left school, have returned to education as a mature learner or are learning new skills on an apprenticeship programme. We are thrilled to be a finalist in the Beacon Awards as this is recognition of the hard work and commitment from all our staff at both our Huntingdon and Cambridge campuses.”

The Beacon Awards are into their 25th year and celebrate the best and most innovative practice among UK colleges each year.
