Cambridge TV programme looks at plastic pollution

If we don’t change what we’re doing, by 2050 there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish. That sobering warning is given during an interview in the latest programme created by Cambridge TV Training, which shines a light on the issue of plastic pollution.

Stuart Tuckwood, a former Green Party parliamentary candidate, also says: “Plastic is entering the food chain. This isn’t just about saving the big whales and the polar bears. Human life on this planet depends on eco-systems and depends upon nature.”

While a lot of organisations and people are trying to work together in Cambridge, recycling rates in this country haven’t improved as much as they could.

Pippa Heylings, chair of the climate change and environment advisory committee for South Cambridgeshire District Council, also speaks to the programme.

She emphasises that it’s up to us as individuals to say no to plastic packaging, and she says that protesting makes a difference in terms of pushing politicians and decision-makers to think again.
