In what is possibly a first for any museum, the centre is offering to help companies with their online marketing campaigns - for just a small annual fee.
Director Jason Fitzpatrick says: "We are currently creating the main display area with educational, fun and informative exhibits. Our 80s classroom is already well underway and our recent open weekend offered visitors the opportunity to create their own digital camera with Microsoft's .NET Gadgeteer system.
"We have lots of ideas for fresh and exciting events at the museum that we will be announcing in due course, but we really need the support of local businesses to help us push forward.
"We are not asking for thousands of pounds from a few companies! Instead we'd love to involve a large number of Cambridge businesses in the museum and ask for just £100 per annum from each of them. If enough companies help us with just a little amount of money, we can achieve great things!"
What do you get for your money?
Jason explains: "Every sponsor of the museum has their logo on our sponsors' page. You can help us raise funds for the museum AND help your company or organisation achieve a higher position in the search engines at the same time - a win-win opportunity!
"For a minimum of just £100 per annum we will place your logo and a textual link to your website from our sponsors' page. A text link directly from this PR4 ranking page will be of benefit to anyone actively promoting their website online. We will also give you your own page on our website that can contain up to 500 words about your organisation.
"The page is ordered by the cumulative donation amount, so the more you donate, the higher up the page your logo will appear!"
