CRC lowers fees to help more people learn English

Cambridge Regional College (CRC) has reduced its ESOL fees for UK-based foreign nationals by nearly 50 per cent to help the local community.

The new fees, aimed at local people keen to learn English as a foreign language, mean students will pay £2.50 an hour for their course, instead of £4.50 an hour.

International Centre manager Cecilia Fisher said the college wanted to encourage more people to enjoy learning English.

“The college is keen to fulfil its responsibilities towards the local community and hopes to encourage more people to further their prospects by learning English from scratch or improving their existing skills in the language,” she said.

“We want to encourage and support more people whose first language is not English to take advantage of our classes and enjoy learning the language, and reducing our fees is a very positive way to help them.”

The college runs ESOL Skills for Life courses from beginner level, all aimed at people who live or want to live in the UK and who do not speak English as their first language. The courses help students develop their English skills for work or study, learning through speaking, listening, reading, writing and pronunciation.
