With a very impressive result, the winner was Atte Grand, an engineer from a leading UK actuator manufacturer and flow control company. The prize was a Kindle Paperwhite.
The Device Developers' Conference is an annual one-day event for engineers and computer scientists working in the development of intelligent systems and devices. It has recently taken place in Bristol, Cambridge and Manchester.
The "Developers' Challenge" was run by software tools company PRQA to highlight how software analysis tools have become essential for the development of code that is required to perform in an efficient, reliable and predictable manner. With ever more complex code and higher expectation of system performance, even experienced and knowledgeable developers now use software analysis tools to ensure total code integrity.
"Atte found 27 coding errors out of 54, which was actually a very impressive result," said Fran Buchmann, Senior Marketing Executive at PRQA. "We have run this challenge at previous events, and Atte's result stands as the current record. He did very well indeed."
PRQA also part-presented a half-day workshop that introduced engineers and developers to the new MISRA C:2012 coding standard, whilst also exploring the software tools available to assist developers and ensure it compliance.
The Device Developers'Conference hosted several half-day technology workshops, a number of technical presentations and an exhibition of vendors that sell the tools and technologies required for the development of intelligent systems and devices. Over 38 companies participated and 171 engineers and developers attended.
Companies that exhibited and sponsored this year's event include Blue Chip, German debug tool company Lauterbach, UK software development consultants Pebble Bay, and embedded tools and technology distributors SDC Systems.
