DNA Polymerases Conference is a success

The DNA Polymerases Conference at Robinsons College has come to an end, says Zing Conferences: "Over the past four days we've seen 65 thought provoking oral presentations and 60+ poster presentations."

Zing Conferences writes:

The conference attracted 148 DNA researchers and professors from near and far. Over the four days we saw stimulating and thought provoking discussions on all aspects of DNA polymerase biology, both inside and outside of sessions. We also organised the sessions to leave time in the afternoon for delegates to enjoy local activities in Cambridge. We had one group go on a tour of Duxford Imperial War Museum while others enjoyed punting tours of 'the backs' with Oxbridge Punts.

Congratulations go to the poster prize winners at the conference. Kelly Beagan (Tufts University), Lance Langston (HHMI, Rockefeller University) and Wenjin Wu (Academia Sinica, Taiwan) were selected by the judges to recieve thier prizes for outstanding work; these were awarded during the closing speeches. Photos of the prize winners and thier judges can be found on the Zing Facebook page.

This was the first time Zing Conferences has organised an event in the UK, and what a fitting topic! Needless to say, many delegates took a walk through to The Eagle pub, most famous for the announcment of the discovery the double helix structure of DNA in 1953. The staff and facilities at Robinson College played a big part in the success of the conference, from the auditorium acoustics and the set up for the British themed Gala Night (pictured above).

We also must thank the sponsors for their generous contributions: NICHD, Roche, New England Biolabs, SYGNIS, Glen Research, Trevigen, TriLink Biotechnologies, Ozgene, TwistDX, Illumina, Elsevier and UKEMS.

Conference chair Roger Woodgate (NIH) will be working with Zing Conferences again in 2015 for the upcoming Genomic Integrity Conference in Cairns, Australia. Co-Chair Barbara Van Loon (University of Zurich) will be working on the following DNA Polymerases Conference, likely to take place in 2016.
