The DNA Polymerases Conference will be taking place at Robinsons College from 31st August to 4th September 2014. It has proved to be a very popular meeting, attracting 200+ delegates. This may well be down to holding a conference on the topic in the city where Crick and Watson announced their discovery of the double-helix structure of DNA. Many delegates will be interested in visiting the Eagle pub, where this breakthough discovery was announced in 1953.
The four main sessions of the four day conference will focus on:
- Structure and function of DNA polymerases
- Biology and regulation of DNA polymerases
- The roles of DNA polymerases in human diseases
- Evolution of DNA polymerases for new applications
The conference will be chaired by Roger Woodgate (NIH), Barbara Van Loon and Ulrich Hubscher (Univsersity of Zurich). It has also been a popular meeting for Industry participants, with over 12 sponsors including NICHD, NIH, UKEMS, Roche, New England Biolabs, Sygnis, TriLink Biotechnologies, Ozgene, Glen Research and two locally based companies, Illumina and TwistDX.
Illumina will also be holding a DNA Technology Symposium on 5th September, directly after the Zing Conference. Some speakers will be staying in the area to speak at this symposium including Andy Gardner (NEB), Thomas Kunkel (NIH) and Myron Goodman (University of Sourthern California).
Papers from the DNA Polymerases Conference will have the opportunity to also be submitted to Elsevier's DNA Repair journal, for release in early 2015. Full details of how you can attend can be found here. If you are interested in participating, get in quickly as seats are almost sold out!
