e-Go appoints Chief Executive Officer from industry

e-Go aeroplanes Limited announces the appointment of Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Hillcoat, aeronautical engineer and private pilot, who assumes the position from 1st July 2014.

In January last year, e-Go aeroplanes set out to fly its prototype, raise capital to see it through into production and find a strong leader for the Company. Adrian’s appointment to the role of CEO brings all three objectives to a successful conclusion and marks another milestone in the Company’s development” said Malcolm Bird, e-Go’s Chairman. “The Board of the Company is very pleased to welcome Adrian at the end of an extensive recruitment process and looks forward to working with him to drive the Company forward to successful commercial production of this innovative new aircraft.

Adrian Hillcoat (56) brings extensive experience of technical development and customer support to the role. An aeronautical engineer by training and in his early career, he has more recently operated in the IT sector, focused on high-performance computing in engineering, research and commercial organisations. He has held senior positions with several US IT companies, including most recently Hewlett-Packard and Ab Initio Software. The expertise he brings of defining and developing product for delivery to global customers will help ensure the company’s future success.

“e-Go aeroplanes has achieved a great deal in getting its first aircraft flying so well, raising the profile of the company and gaining vital funding” says Adrian, “I am excited to be coming on board at this time when the results of flight testing are being incorporated into the refined product and the processes are being organised for production.”

Giotto Castelli, Founder and Chief Designer comments, “The Company is very grateful to Malcolm Bird for stepping into the full time executive role for the past 18 months. We have made a lot of progress in this time and we are very pleased that continuity will be assured as Malcolm reverts to his role as NED, Chairman and providing support to many areas of the operation. The team welcomes Adrian into the Company as we drive towards production.”

About e-Go aeroplaneswww.e-go.me

Operating to the north of Cambridge, e-Go aeroplanes is creating the striking, new, very lightweight e-Go aircraft. It will cost dramatically less to fly than traditional aircraft and is a product for discerning pilots who relish new experiences. It uses novel technologies for performance yet achieves a low cost of development and operation by exploiting the newly deregulated environment in the UK. Interest in the product is high and the first deposits for aircraft that will be delivered in 2015 have been received.

Notes

1. The single-seat e-Go design has evolved from the winning design of the high-tech category of a competition run in 2007 by the Light Aircraft Association. This was to encourage innovation after the Civil Aviation Authority deregulated the very light end of general aviation aircraft construction.

2. Deregulation by the CAA now means that aircraft manufacturers can develop single-seat aircraft of up to 300kg MAUW (maximum all up weight) with the minimum of red-tape and delay. e-Go aeroplanes is taking maximum advantage of this UK opportunity.

3. Around 60 per cent of the UK’s estimated 60,000 pilots fly light aircraft for enjoyment. In the main, those aircraft have their roots in designs that are more than 40 years old and have become increasingly expensive to operate. e-Go costs just £15 per hour to fly.
