Lily Lin meeting with DanYang directors

As part of her business development work in China this month, EFEC CEO Lily Lin met with senior people at the DanYang Municipal Investment Promotion Centre in Jiangsu, China.

The city of DanYang is a provincial economic development zone, and a provincial high-tech zone. Historically, it has been an economic hub in the Yangtze Delta region, and its transportation infrastructure is highly convenient, evolving into an integrated network of railways, roads, waterways, and aviation in recent years.

The region is home to successful traditional industries including the renowned DanYang eyewear industry, automotive parts manufacturing, hardware tools production, and household goods manufacturing. Today, DanYang nurtures emerging sectors such as new materials, health industry, and advanced equipment manufacturing.

The local government is now using the power of the internet, big data, and artificial intelligence to further optimise traditional enterprises, foster the growth of emerging industries, and introduce a new wave of digital economy and 5G technology-focused sectors.

DanYang is already home to a range of foreign companies, including GKN (UK), Germany's Henkel, France's Essilor, Japan's Daicel and HOYA, as well as Sino-Japan (Danyang) Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Cooperation Park, Dibao Traffic Devices and Materials, Hydron Contact Lenses, and Korea's SK

During the visit,  Lily emphasized EFEC’s aspiration to become a bridge for mutually beneficial international cooperation between DanYang and the United Kingdom. She outlined EFEC’s four areas of business:

1.       Education and skills training

2.       Talent development ecosystem platforms

3.       Supporting local government, business and research co-operation for growth

4.       Business innovation services - into China and into UK

The DanYang Investment Promotion Centre showed special interest and appreciation for EFEC's potential in business innovation implementation services.

In recent years, EFEC has been actively building a Sino-UK business service platform. Recent successes include the establishment of a The Lingang Cambridge Network in the Lingang Free Trade Zone with the support of Shanghai Lingang Investment Holding Group and The Cambridge Network.

EFEC has also worked with Cambridge Cleantech, to bring technical and resource support for low-carbon development in Sino-UK enterprises. In the field of life sciences, in collaboration with renowned regional platforms in Cambridge, Oxford, and the central region of England, EFEC is providing international development strategy consulting services and subsequent support.

In the field of life sciences in the UK, EFEC has joined hands with our well-known partners in Cambridge, Oxford and the Midlands to support companies and organisations with international development strategies and follow-up support for in-country developments.

The DanYang investment promotion team will host a promotional event in Shanghai on 2nd November, where Lily has been invited as a special guest. We will continue to provide coverage of this event as it unfolds.
