The first UK Device Developers' Conference took place in Cambridge last week, attracting exhibiting companies from around the world and engineers and software developers from across the Eastern region. Consisting of a series of technical workshops, technical presentations and an exhibition of tools and technology vendors, the event was a chance for developers to explore new technologies, learn new skills and expand their knowledge.
"The feedback has been very positive,", said Richard Blackburn, Event Organiser. "The delegates appreciated that the presentations and the workshops provided useful technical content and expressed what a productive and enjoyable day they had experienced. We also received some unsolicited compliments about the event by e-mail the following day. It has been a very rewarding week and we really appreciate all the support this event has received."
Topics at the Device Developers' Conference included 'Advanced Debugging, 'Integrating Touchscreen Technology', 'Advances in PCB Design Technology', 'Exploring Current and Future Off-The Shelf Hardware', 'Enclosure Design using 3D CAD' and 'Managing Open Source Software for Commercial Projects'. Exhibitors included enclosure design manufacturers, Code Analysis tool vendors, hardware manufacturers, specialist computer memory suppliers and real-time operating system (RTOS) developers.
"From the exhibitors’ side, this event proved an excellent opportunity for vendors to discuss their latest tools and achievements with developers from many of the Eastern region's established technology companies," said Richard Blackburn. "Delegates came from industry sectors such as automotive, medical, print technology, traffic control, datacomms and telecoms. Many vendors have already expressed support for next year’s Conference."
Companies that sponsored and exhibited at the event include German debug company Lauterbach, US RTOS company Wind River, embedded software consultants Pebble Bay and UK computer board manufacturer Blue Chip Technology.
The Device Developers’ Conference is an annual one-day conference that takes place in Bristol, Cambridge and Manchester. For engineers that missed the Bristol and Cambridge events, some places are still available at the Manchester event that will take place this Wednesday 22nd May, at Bredbury Hall, Stockport.
The Device Developers’ Conference is free to attend for engineers, software developers and students working in this field.
