EY announces new Office Managing Partner to lead its Cambridge office

EY has announced the promotion of Stuart Wilkinson to new Office Managing Partner in Cambridge to lead the office and continue its growth in the East region. He takes over the reins from Nick Gomer who is retiring from the business after 40 years.

Stuart is joined by partner Ruth Logan, who has relocated from EY’s Belfast office, and newly promoted associate partner Lauren Houghton, as the business looks to invest and expand its presence across the region.

Stuart, who is also head of tax for the East region, will lead a team of tax, assurance, transaction and advisory professionals who provide services across the spectrum, including local government, large plc., the mid-market and start-ups. In his new role he will take responsibility for people, brand and client activity, with a focus on building links with the local community and key stakeholders.

Stuart joined EY in 2014 and has over 25 years’ experience working with PLC clients in the region and businesses in the Private Middle Market. He has also worked to support some of the region’s innovative start-up companies, helping them to grow and expand nationally and internationally.

As an active member of the CBI East of England Council, Stuart is a passionate advocate of business in the region and plays an active role in the local community, having previously volunteered with Byte Night Cambridge and with continued involvement with Tax Help for Older People.

Commenting on his new role, he said: “I’m really excited to be taking on this new role as Office Managing Partner for EY’s Cambridge office. I’d like to thank Nick for his incredible work leading the team here in this part of the East. He’s done a fantastic job and has made the transition easier, as I’m taking on an incredibly committed and skilled team.

“The East is a hugely diverse region, with a rich heritage in sectors including life-sciences, technology, agri-tech and many others. I’m looking forward to growing our service capabilities and the team here in Cambridge, as we have ambitions to increase our market share within the Private Middle Market (PMM) and work more closely with key stakeholders in the region.”

Ruth Logan has over 19 years’ experience, working with public, private and private equity backed businesses across a wide range of industries.

She joined EY just over 10 years ago and most recently spent five years working in EY’s Belfast office where she established a new Audit Centre of Excellence. Her responsibilities included increasing the teams’ capabilities and overseeing a rise in headcount to 60 audit professionals.

Following her move to the Cambridge office, she will lead a team of nearly 100 people with a focus on delivering high quality audit services to clients across the East of England and nationally.

She said: “Joining the team is almost a return to my roots, as I studied at the University of Cambridge. The city has many incredible memories for me and it’s great to be able to come back and focus on supporting some of the fantastic businesses we have in the East region, with their growth agenda.

“I’m looking forward to building the audit capabilities of the team here in Cambridge and to focussing on winning new clients in the local and regional market place.”
