Fitness challenge gives Easter boost to sick children

Young patients in Addenbrooke’s Hospital had an Easter treat when Cambridge Regional College organised a special charity fitness session – and collected a bumper 52 chocolate eggs to donate to the hospital.

Staff in the sports centre and Park gym held a Supers 6s Challenge, a demanding two-hour fitness event made up of six team-based rounds including different exercises and training formats.

Instead of taking money to sign up for the event, they asked for Easter eggs as a registration fee – with all the ‘proceeds’ going to the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

“People were very supportive and even donated eggs if they couldn’t make the event,” said Nicola Housden, CRC Sports Centre Supervisor. “We’re delighted to have collected so many and they will all go to the children’s ward at the hospital.”

Nicky Newton, Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust community fundraising manager, said the hospital was very grateful to everyone who had donated and given their time to support patients at Easter.
