It’s important to keep your most talented team members because they bring vital skills and income to your business. These “keepers” are already trained, are good-performers and they often bring new ideas and a real enthusiasm for the business they’re a part of, so that’s plenty of reasons why they are an asset - the last thing you should want to do is lose them.
Liz Gibson of Adaptable-HR offers these top 5 tips for keeping your top talent:
- Know who your “keepers” are.
- Understand what motivates all your staff, not just the noisy ones
- Make sure your employees have a clear path of career development and you’ve communicated that to them.
- Ensure your team members feel they can discuss any niggles with you before it ends with a resignation letter
- Keep your staff happy - lots of new candidates come via networking; they will only refer good people if they enjoy working for you.
