Television personality and ‘populariser of mathematics’ Johnny Ball is counting on Cambridgeshire businesses to join the fight against youth homelessness by sleeping out on Byte Night.
Byte Night is a fundraising challenge which sees hundreds of businesses across the UK sleep rough at eight locations, including Cambridge, to raise vital funds for youth homelessness services delivered by Action for Children.
This year’s event takes place on Friday, October 3 and, after doing the sums, Byte Night supporter Johnny Ball is calling for more Cambridgeshire businesses to sign up and help the charity reach its fundraising target of £1.3 million…
He said: “This time last year we had 117 people signed up to sleep out in Cambridge and we already have 82 names for Byte Night 2014, which is great news for Action for Children, and the children and young people it supports.
“To reach the £1.3 million fundraising target and make this year’s Byte Night Cambridge bigger than ever before we still need more businesses to sign up. By adding sleepers, Action for Children can multiply its vital work with vulnerable children and young people.”
Some of the biggest companies in the UK take part in Byte Night, making it a great networking opportunity, as well as a unique way to support young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Citrix, KPMG, Barclays, BT and the University of Cambridge have already signed up to take part in Byte Night Cambridge.
Byte Night takes place on Friday, October 3 across the UK. To see who is already signed up and register, please visit bytenight.org.uk.
