getting ready for the Run Everyone virtual race

OSB Events, the organisers behind the month-long virtual race ‘Run Everyone’, are calling for individuals and employers to create teams and sign up for the race before it begins on 1 March.

One of Run Everyone’s charity partners CPSL Mind has seen increased demand for its services since lockdown started nearly a year ago, providing more than 15,291 hours of one-to-one support in 2020. The pressures caused by isolation, home-schooling, working from home, financial and health concerns are impacting the mental health of individuals and employers alike.

Run Everyone is a fun race designed to help not just engage teams and bring people together during lockdown, but also encourage people of all ages and fitness abilities to run, improving both their mental and physical wellbeing. During the month of March, the race website will display updated leaderboards for the teams to view and compare their progress. And while participants may run alone, or with a friend, family member, colleague, or pet dog, they will be racing as part of a team and competing against others, providing a lively and engaging community throughout the month of March.

Businesses across the region take the mental health of their employers seriously. Tees Law is one of the many businesses to sign up to the Run Everyone race. Alina Sonina, HR and Engagement Manager at Tees said: “At Tees we’re getting involved in the Run Everyone challenge for our collective wellbeing, as well as enabling us to keep connected to one another by achieving a shared goal.

Managing Director at Tees, Ashton Hunt, said: "Ensuring the wellbeing of our people is a top priority for us and Run Everyone is the latest in a number of firm-wide challenges we have taken part in. Everyone in 'Team Tees' is excited for the challenge and ready to go”.

CPSL Mind provides a range of services to both individuals and businesses across the region that need support for their employees, as well as support company’s mental health first aiders who are themselves under considerable pressure. The charity is continuing to support its local community through lockdown, responding to concerns such as how to balance home-schooling and work life, managing time and anxiety, as well as providing techniques to relieve stress such as breathing and mindfulness.

Zoe Doherty, Fundraising Consultant for the charity, said: “This is a very worrying and stressful time for people across Cambridgeshire and beyond, and we’re working hard to help as many as possible. By joining Run Everyone, not only are participants improving their own mental health, but through fundraising activities can help charities such as ours support even more of those who are suffering as a result of Covid-19. Together we’re stronger and this is a fantastic community initiative from the organisers of the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon."
