Live insight into Method internship

The Method intern programme is coming to an end and the three talented individuals were put on the spot on Tuesday 23 August as they broadcasted live on the Cambridge News Facebook page. The 20 minute, live-streamed video was viewed 1,700 times and reached over 22,000 people.

The candidates, who are all currently studying at university, boast an impressive list of credentials, which led them to being selected for the busy two-week internship at Method.

Louis Jani, an English Literature student at York University, reflected on what the experience of appearing live on Facebook was like: “We were all a little nervous before starting. We’d tried to prepare but the nature of it was to be spontaneous and in the end you forget that people are watching on their computer screens. It was good to use Facebook Live for the first time and see how live streaming can engage an audience, it also gave us good practice in presenting ourselves and talking through the things we have learnt.”

Suzanne Pattinson, head of community said: “We work closely with the Cambridge News and this is something that we agreed to as a way to reach a new audience. Method is a great place to gain invaluable insight into the industry and putting the interns in the spotlight was a prime example of giving them real life experience.”

The candidates have been working on a live brief and developing a campaign, which they will then present in a real life pitch to a panel, which includes Cambridge News’ Mike Scialom, on Friday 26 August 2016.
