The A14 upgrade is managed by Highways England and is the country’s largest construction project costing £1.5billion. Lord Mair said he found it the most interesting site visit of his Presidential year, which finishes at the end of October.

St Germans Pumping Station opened in 2011 costing £38m and can move up to 100 tonnes of water a second. It ensures an area right up to Cambridge remains unflooded and protects homes and businesses valued at £3.6bn.
