Mission Street has lodged an application for the creation of a research & development hub at the DFS and Carpetright site on Botley Road in Oxford.

The £100m project is a joint venture with BentallGreenOak. The existing retail units at the brownfield site will be removed to provide 182,900 sq ft of science and innovation workspace including office and lab facilities.

The scheme is targeting a BREEAM Excellent certification and a biodiversity net gain for habitat of 119%.

In the website for the development, Mission Street said the new workspace will be integrated into the city and will invite the community in by providing a public cafe and accessible pathways and walking routes through the site.

The redevelopment of the DFS and Carpetright site is one of the life sciences projects by Mission Street and BGO.

In October, the partners purchased a 23 acre site on Coldham’s Lane, Cambridge, where they plan to deliver a science and innovation campus.
