The annual event for early career researchers is organised by the Parliamentary & Scientific Committee. Out of hundreds of entries, a shortlist is drawn up and the young researchers produce a poster on their research which is judged by professional and academic experts against dozens of other scientists’ research.
Sadly, rates of survival for ovarian cancer have not dramatically improved since the 1980s. But PhD student Paula Martin Gonzalez wants to change this. She plans to personalise ovarian cancer treatment and is developing artificial intelligence methods based on radiological scans performed at diagnosis.
Daniel Zeichner MP said: “Early career scientists are at the cutting edge of the UK’s academic and economic future. Cambridge is a global hub for STEM research and today was a great opportunity to speak to so many successful Cambridge researchers and learn about their work.”
