New book explains how to develop reliable embedded systems

SafeTTy Systems will provide free copies of a popular new book on reliable embedded systems at their workshop at the UK Device Developers' Conference.

SafeTTy Systems Ltd have announced that they will be launching a comprehensive new workshop programme for developers that need to create reliable and secure embedded systems at the Device Developer’s Conference 2015 in Reading (UK) on 12 May.  Everyone who attends the workshop will receive a copy of the company’s popular new book “The Engineering of Reliable Embedded Systems”.

The 2015 Device Developers’ Conference covers four dates and four locations.  Starting with Reading on Tuesday 12th May, the event will then visit Cambridge (14th May), Manchester (2nd June) and Scotland (4th June).

The team behind SafeTTy Systems Ltd has been working in the area of time-triggered (TT) embedded systems for more than 25 years.  The company offers a low-cost, royalty-free ReliabiliTTy® technology licence that makes it easy for their customers to benefit from this experience and apply it in their own products.  In order to give organisations the opportunity to investigate the benefits of a time-triggered approach for themselves, SafeTTy Systems have recently launched a new book series and a matching set of public reference designs that enable system design incompliance with ISO 26262, IEC 61508, IEC 60730 and related standards.

“Over recent years, technology and designs developed by the team behind SafeTTy Systems have been applied in autonomous vehicles and other automotive designs, marine systems, aerospace systems, medical systems, industrial systems, household goods and many other areas,” said Dr Michael J. Pont, CEO of UK-based SafeTTy Systems.

“My last book on this topic – Patterns for Time-Triggered Embedded Systems – was published in 2001.  In 2014, I took some time out to write up my more recent experience in this area in the form of a new book – The Engineering of Reliable Embedded Systems.  I’m pleased to say that this book is already proving to be very popular: our first print run sold out in less than a month.”

The Device Developers' Conference is a one-day conference for computer scientists and electronic engineers who work in the development of intelligent systems and devices. The event consists of technical workshops, presentations and an exhibition, providing an important opportunity for engineers and vendors to share knowledge and explore new technologies.

SafeTTy Systems Ltd will be running workshops at all four DDC events this year and will be providing free copies of  "The Engineering of Reliable Embedded Systems” book to everyone who attends one of these workshops.

“Dr Pont is widely recognised as a leader in the field of time-triggered embedded systems,” said Richard Blackburn, Conference Manager. “This really is an important opportunity for developers to explore and learn about new approaches to the development of safety critical embedded systems using time-triggered architectures.  In this respect, the Device Developers’ Conference is very much about the sharing of information and the exploration of new technologies. “

SafeTTy Systems Ltd provides support for developers of reliable, real-time embedded systems in sectors including aerospace, medical, industrial, automotive, marine, defence, satellite systems and high-end consumer goods.
