Together they aim to advance a new class of therapeutics targeting neuroinflammation, a central driver of multiple neurodegenerative and neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis and other central nervous system disorders.

Neurological and neurodegenerative conditions affect more than three billion people worldwide, yet effective treatments that can slow or alter the course of disease remain scarce. Growing scientific evidence points to neuroinflammation as a major driver of disease progression for these conditions, placing it at the centre of a new wave of therapeutic research.

Funded by Alzheimer's Research UK and the ALBORADA Trust, The ALBORADA Drug Discovery Institute is developing the next generation of treatments for the diseases that cause dementia.

Under the new collaboration, AndzonBio2 will work with scientists at the ALBORADA Drug Discovery Institute to advance a first‑in‑class therapeutics programme targeting key areas and biology linked to neuroinflammation.

AndzonBio2 is a neuroscience company with expertise in early‑stage drug development and in-depth knowledge of bringing new medicines from the lab and into use. The partnership will capitalise on these strengths combined with Cambridge’s leading neuroscience research and the ALBORADA Drug Discovery Institute’s established drug discovery platform. The team will explore novel therapeutic approaches based on emerging biology that is attracting increasing scientific and commercial interest worldwide.

Loic Lhuillier, CEO of AndzonBio2 said: “We are thrilled to enter this collaboration with the ADDI at Cambridge. Neuroinflammation is at the core of many severe brain diseases and new therapeutic solutions are urgently needed. By combining our complementary strengths, we have a unique opportunity to accelerate the development of a highly innovative therapeutic approach with the potential to change the treatment landscape for patients.”

Professor John Skidmore, Chief Scientific Officer of the ALBORADA Drug Discovery Institute at the University of Cambridge, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with AndzonBio2 on this promising project. This partnership exemplifies our commitment to translating cutting-edge neuroscience into impactful therapies. AndzonBio2 brings a focused expertise in neuroinflammation and drug development that will be instrumental in driving this promising programme forward.”

The University of Cambridge has a mission to accelerate innovation in neuroscience by partnering with organisations able to turn laboratory discoveries into truly viable therapeutic advances. This new partnership promises to be a significant step towards that goal.
