Prof Frenneaux said: “I feel very excited and honoured to take on this role. The School of Medicine has made outstanding progress in its relatively brief life, and is held in high regard. This is a testament to the enthusiasm and excellence of its staff and students and to the support of the University. I look forward to working with staff and students to further develop the Medical School.”
The Dean of UEA’s Medicine and Health Sciences faculty, Prof Ian Harvey, said: “I am very pleased that Michael Frenneaux will be joining us to lead the internationally renowned team we have here at Norwich Medical School. Since the School was established in 2002, it has quickly established a reputation for innovative approaches to education, alongside a strong and rapidly developing research programme.
“It is an exciting time for the school, with the launch of the new state-of-the-art facilities at the Bob Champion Research and Educational Building, and the recognition that our 2013 graduates are the best prepared doctors in the UK, according to a recent General Medical Council report (2014). We look forward to Professor Frenneaux leading the next exciting chapter for Norwich Medical School at UEA.”
In his new role, Prof Frenneaux will be responsible for a number of vital strategic, academic leadership and management roles, and for leading and shaping the further development and growth of the Medical School building on the strong foundations established by the founding Dean Professor Sam Leinster and his successor, Professor David Crossman.
