Online map plots bins and helps keep city sparkling

Cambridge City Council has launched an online map showing the location of all the council’s street bins, in a bid to help keep the city cleaner.

The map shows the precise location of each of the city’s 1024 litter bins. It will enable residents and visitors to notify the council if a specific bin is overflowing with waste or is damaged, if a collection may have been missed, or if they think an area of the city is in need of additional bins.

If residents using the map need to tell the council about any issues concerning particular bins they are encouraged to phone 01223 458295 or email ross.lewis@cambridge.gov.uk

The map is available now at www.cambridge.gov.uk/litter-bins-map

Cllr Peter Roberts, Executive Councillor for Environment, Waste and Public Health said: “We have developed this map to support our bin service improvement plans, and the roll out of a further 150 new street bins across Cambridge over the next 12 months.”

“We hope that by making this data publicly available, residents will use it to help us ensure the city is kept clean and tidy.

“I would encourage anyone spotting a street bin that needs our attention to get in touch with us, so we can quickly rectify the situation.”
