Join us at the Centre for Computing History on Thursday 19 November to network with Cambridge business leaders and find out how you can use government-funded apprenticeships to help grow your business.
“We have established our Cambridge Learning Centre to better serve the region.” says Brett Waters, QA’s Business Manager for the East of England, “CB1 gives us a fantastic learning environment. The retro-style building gives us very high-spec training rooms, kitted out with the latest technology, which will help us provide high-quality training to our learners and apprentices throughout Cambridgeshire.”
The high-tech learning facility, at the prestigious CB1 business centre, gives QA a very firm foothold in the city that boasted the world’s first video game [1] .
QA Apprenticeships, the specialist apprenticeship division of QA, have already been working with businesses in Cambridge, including telecoms giant Alcatel, semiconductor and software multinational ARM Holdings, and leading app store billing platform developers Bango.
The company’s award-winning IT apprenticeship programmes provide local technology companies a great, low-risk way to grow their businesses. QA takes care of the entire process, from initial recruitment and placement, through training, accreditation and graduation. This means that hiring managers need not worry about any unnecessary bureaucracy.
Last month, QA launched its IT Degree Apprenticeship. The BSc (Hons) Digital & Technology Solutions degree makes QA the first UK company to offer unrivalled progression routes from GCSE-level traineeships right through to degree, and on to Master’s through their Executive Masters programme.
In five years QA has placed 5,000 apprentices in IT/technology careers. Given the demand for talent, the company is pushing to kick-start another 5,000 bright futures in just 12-months. The #10KinTech campaign, launched in July this year, stands at over 7,800.
[1]The world’s first computer video game was invented in Cambridge in 1952. PhD student Alexander S Douglas made a noughts and crosses emulator that he called ‘OXO’.
