Mark Reeve, Chairman of the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough LEP, was a guest speaker (Wednesday) at a Growth Summit organised by Rutland County Council and held at Greetham Valley.
The summit also provided the Deputy Leader of Rutland County Council, Terry King, with an opportunity to update the audience about key projects including Oakham Enterprise Park, Digital Rutland and the Worklink bus.
Councillor Terry King commented: “It’s the first time we have held an event of this type in Rutland and we are delighted with the outcome. It was useful to have so many of our leading businesses in one room as it provided an opportunity to listen to the issues that are important to them and the way their businesses operate.”
Councillor King added: “The presentation from the Local Enterprise Partnership was extremely interesting and helped people fully understand the important role they play. Rutland is a key partner in the LEP and I hope that our local businesses know how they can engage and access the support and opportunities that currently exist.”
Mark Reeve, Chairman of the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership (LEP), said: “It was good to see so many local businesses at this morning’s Growth Summit, and to have the opportunity to talk to them directly about the work of our LEP. Rutland is an important part of our economic area. We are therefore keen to better understand the needs of local businesses to allow us to support the continued growth of the local economy. I would encourage any businesses who want to find out more about the LEP to visit www.yourlocalenterprisepartnership.co.uk or email [email protected].”
Rutland County Council organised the Growth Summit in the hope of gaining a better understanding of what the local business community view as a priority.
An extremely useful question and answer session took place during which a number of key themes emerged including market town investment, increasing engagement between local businesses and the Local Enterprise Partnership, as well as tackling key issues such as transport and infrastructure.
Display stands were also made available so visitors could find out more about Oakham Enterprise Park, Digital Rutland and the Worklink Bus.
