Students create winter wonderland for Christmas shoppers

Talented art students have created a winter wonderland for Christmas shoppers in Cambridge – designing beautiful festive windows for local traders.

The students from Cambridge Regional College transformed the windows of independent shops in King Street and Sussex Street to help get their Christmas trade off to a flying start.

The Art and Design Foundation students – all specialising in textiles and fashion – created stunning festive displays for fashion boutique Boudoir Femme, Miller’s Music shop, Cambridge Toy Shop and Finn Jordan Beauty and Hair.

Pippa Sanderson, owner of Boudoir Femme said the students had created stunning window displays.

"We are all really delighted with the windows created by the students. Our window includes a paper dress designed by the students which is great - people are stopping and taking pictures of it," she said.

“As an independent business we are always looking for different ways to engage with our customers and capture the imagination of passers-by with eye catching window displays.”

CRC lecturer Roger Prime said the students had thoroughly enjoyed designing and creating festive windows for the traders.

Shops in King Street and Sussex Street, including Boudoir Femme, Finn Jordan, Miller’s Music, newly-opened Nord and Cambridge Toy Shop were open until 8pm on Thursday, 21 November to launch the Christmas trading period - offering festive refreshments, music and special offers to all customers on the night.
