Technology conference attracts engineers from across the UK

A conference to take place at The Belfry, Cambourne on Thursday 14th May will be attended by more than 150 of the UK's top experts in hi-tech development.

On the 14th May, The Belfry Hotel, Cambourne will host the UK Device Developers' Conference, an annual event for engineers and computer scientists that develop intelligent systems and devices such as mobile phones, digital cameras, computers, car electronics and aircraft control systems.

The Conference will bring together more than 150 of the UK's leading developers in this field.  Consisting of an exhibition of development tools, hardware and software, a series of half-day technical workshops and an agenda of technical presentations, the Conference is a chance for developers to meet with fellow industry experts, share knowledge and experience and explore new technologies.

"It is shaping up to be a very worthwhile Conference this year," said Richard Blackburn, Conference Manager. "The Conference now attracts the world's leading experts, such as German company Lauterbach, a recognised leader in the field of debugging tools.

"The Conference mostly attracts development engineers that are about to embark on new projects and need to explore their options with regards hardware, software and development tools. It is also a chance for them to discuss their project with some of the world's leading experts in specific fields such as display technology or software certification."

Over 30 technology vendors have sponsored the event and will be exhibiting and making presentations. These include Cambridge based Undo Software, Eurotech and Cambridge Consultants, and St Neots based Pico Technologies. Other companies include US based Lynx Software Technologies, and respected display tools vendor Altia. The Conference also features a competition called 'The Coding Challenge', where software programmers have a chance to compete by analysing a section of code that contains errors and concerns.

"Each year we are increasingly impressed with the level of expertise of developers that take part. In many ways, it is just a bit of fun, however, being a good programmers takes a lot of study followed by a lot of real world experience,” said Richard Blackburn.

“In some ways this competition is a rare celebration of the amazing talent of good developers. The past winners have been delighted to receive the prize and the acknowledgement."

The Device Developers’ Conference is to take place in Reading, Cambridge, Warrington and Uphall (Scotland) during May and June 2015.  The Conference, including the technical presentations, is free to engineers and technical project managers. A small charge is made for places on the half-day technical workshops.
