The firm has placed nine apprentices in each of its Cambridge, Bishop’s Stortford and Chelmsford offices, and plans to expand the scheme next year with more apprenticeship jobs on offer.
Mike Harris, apprenticeship programme manager at Tees Law, said the scheme was proving highly successful.
“We set up the programme with CRC to find recruits who were looking for an exciting opportunity and an apprenticeship in business administration in a thriving regional law firm,” he said.
“We have won awards for our training expertise and wanted to take on apprentices eager to work at the heart of providing excellent support services to our legal teams.
“We had a great response, and have filled all our apprenticeship vacancies for this year. We are planning to expand the programme and will be recruiting again early
next year.”
Over the 18-month programme, the apprentices will cover a wide range of business and administration functions with access to Cambridge Regional College’s experienced NVQ Assessors to aid development of their portfolio.
The firm, which has six offices across the East of England, also has a successful Graduate Programme, School Work Experience initiative and Vacation Programme for undergraduates.
Angela Hughes, CRC apprenticeship manager, said: “We worked closely with the Tees Law to set up the apprenticeship programme, which had an excellent response. The firm has recruited across three of its offices and we are delighted that it is planning to expand the programme next year.”
Jordan Dive, an apprentice in the Cambridge office’s Company and Commercial department, said his daily tasks varied from filing to cashing cheques and issuing
court documents.
“While filing may seem like a tedious task at first, it is an important part of the legal process and allows me an insight into the legal world. Other tasks also include faxing, photocopying and scanning documents,” he said.
“There are a number of legal professions including Legal Executives and Paralegals as well as solicitors, and we get the chance to work alongside all of them.”
Apprentice Emma Fisk, who works in the litigation department, in the Bishop’s Stortford office, said: “Starting a new job is always scary, especially as an apprentice as you always seem to be the youngest by far. However at Tees everyone in approachable and friendly, I have only been working here for a couple of weeks but already if feel comfortable in my new surroundings thanks to my colleagues here.”
