YOUR INVITATION TO “CAMBRIDGE 2021 AND BEYOND”
CITY COUNCIL LEADER’S BUSINESS BRIEFING

6.00 – 7.30pm, Thursday 11 November 2021

Virtual Meeting via Zoom

Councillor Lewis Herbert, Leader of Cambridge City Council, writes:

You are invited to take part in our autumn briefing for Businesses and Organisations which will be run as a Zoom meeting on Thursday 11 November.  I will be setting out the opportunities and challenges facing the Council and the city and discussing our priorities and budget strategy for the years ahead.  And welcoming questions and discussion on your priorities too – we are keen to build stronger partnerships with you as we all work towards sustainable and inclusive growth of our great small city.

Cambridge faces major ongoing challenges in recovering from the impacts of the virus and supporting and working with our community and businesses and education sector to address it together.

Then there’s the immense task of achieving a successful recovery as a united city in 2022 and through the 2020s - economically, socially, environmentally and financially. We have started work on a recovery strategy to build a greener and fairer Cambridge, and are keen to explore ways to collaborate with you on this as part of the “Our Cambridge” we will be initiating with partners and residents shortly.

The same goes for delivering on our Cambridge and council priorities for a successful future.  We can only tackle together our twin challenges - tackling both the climate emergency and tackling poverty and inequality in Cambridge - by working in partnership with organisations including yours.

Please complete this short survey so we can capture more of your views on priorities and key issues ahead of the event too.

I’d very much welcome the chance to discuss the key issues you face, and the Council’s role in working with you on those, and hear your view. The session will be interactive, with an open Q&A discussion on the work the Council does to promote sustainable economic growth, and what you can do with us to tackle some of the key challenges the city, its businesses and its residents face.

You may already have questions that you would like to ask and if you do you, please email them in advance of the briefing to kathy.brown@cambridge.gov.uk by Wednesday 3 November so I can try to cover the topics that matter to you.

I hope you are able to join me on 11 November, and I look forward to working with you to make this world class small city even greater.

Please confirm your attendance by Friday 5 November by e-mailing kathy.brown@cambridge.gov.uk so joining instructions can be sent to you by close of play Monday 8 November.

Please note the survey closes on 3 November.
