Respected internationally, ICE Fellowship is the highest grade of ICE membership and a benchmark for those practising at the top level within the profession. Only those with a position of responsibility in the planning, design, construction, maintenance or management of important engineering work can be awarded this level of membership and add the letters “FICE” to their name.
Steven (pictured left) works for Royal HaskoningDHV as Director of Business Development - Water Europe. Delighted at being made an ICE Fellow he said:
“The recognition by the ICE and my peers is terrific, but what this really gives me is a renewed motivation and responsibility to apply my 25 years of experience in shaping and influencing the debate and responses regarding the water and urban challenges we face in the UK and Globally, and how Civil Engineers should work with communities and other professionals to shape the future and our choices.”
Jonathan (pictured right) is Development Director for Abu Dhabi Airports. He had worked extensively overseas and on similar projects in Australia and South Africa as well as Heathrow Terminal 5. He said: “I am honoured to be made a Fellow. Qualifying as a civil engineer requires dedication, hard work and a passion for what you do. But it offers a fantastic career that allows you to work as a member of a team on projects that contribute to the wellbeing and improvement of communities and society all over the world.”
ICE was founded in 1818 to ensure professionalism in civil engineering,Thomas Telford was the first President. The Institution represents 86,000 qualified and student civil engineers in the UK and across the globe. ICE has long worked with the government of the day to help it to achieve its objectives, and has worked with industry to ensure that construction and civil engineering remain major contributors to the UK economy and UK exports.
