Woodfines Tour de France

Woodfines Tour de France triumph in support of Arthur Rank Hospice.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity were delighted to accept an invitation to be the benefiting charity at today's Woodfines Tour de France event.

The event, hosted in the University Arms hotel provided guests with a prime location from which to watch the start of stage three and absorb the building atmosphere.

Guests meandered between the hotel and the bustling roads outside to see the cyclists first hand and the invitation was open to those wishing to come along for breakfast, lunch or both.

Throughout the morning, the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity sold raffle tickets for a fantastic prize to ride with Emma Trott, asked for £10 donations to enter a draw to win the very first cycling jersey printed for the charity and encouraged guests to donate a £1 to guess the value of five pence pieces inside a whisky bottle. These activities raised £390, £540 and £126 respectively. With these values and other donations made during the event it is expected the total raised will exceed £1300.

Donna Talbot, fundraising & marketing manager for the charity said ’We were absolutely delighted to represent the charity at today’s event. Woodfines are a fantastic company and having offered to support us earlier in the year we were delighted to have been involved in this specific event. All the money raised from todays activities will be added to the funds needed to build the new hospice and we are thrilled Woodfines and their guests will help us on our way to our £8.9million target.’

The charity would like to thank Woodfines staff, particularly Karl, Nicola, James and Tim for all their support and we would like to thank all those who came along to the event and supported the charity so generously.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to Kinetic Cycles who allowed guests to try their hand at cycling in a bid to make their own delicious smoothie whilst learning more about cycling and the equipment needed to get involved!
