Getting from Cambridgeshire to a London airport isn't short. Heathrow is roughly 90 minutes, Gatwick closer to two hours, and every option you choose carries a different environmental cost.
Rail plus the Heathrow Express or Gatwick Express is the lowest-emission route for a solo traveller, though it usually means two or three changes with luggage and doesn't work well for early departures or late arrivals. Coach services are cheap and reasonably efficient per passenger, but slow and inflexible. Driving yourself and parking is convenient, but a 140-mile round trip in a petrol or diesel car is the highest-emission option on the list — and you pay for the parking on top.
An electric transfer sits between them: door to door like driving, but with zero tailpipe emissions for the whole journey. For two or more people it's also the most efficient per head of any private option.
For businesses, this is the part that matters on paper. Electric transfers count as a genuine reduction in Scope 3 business travel emissions rather than an offset applied afterwards.
