Eastern Academic Health Science Network (EAHSN)

Eastern AHSN (Academic Health Science Network) is funded by the NHS and the Office for Life Sciences to bring together academia, citizens, health services and industry to realise the value of innovations more quickly. Their focus is the East of England, but we are part of a national network which enables us to deliver at scale.

At Eastern AHSN, they have a passion for health and technology and a desire to take healthcare forwards and solve difficult problems for the benefit of the community. They support innovators from insight to implementation – helping them design and engineer new technologies and products, navigate complex systems and generate value propositions that make a positive and lasting health impact.

Alex Lloyd - Principal Advisor

Alex is a pharmacist with a background in implementation and strategic management of both commercial and NHS healthcare services. As a Principal Advisor at Eastern AHSN, Alex works across the Commercial and Delivery Teams. Alex is passionate about enabling access with choice and information readily available to inform healthcare decisions and journeys.

 

One Nucleus

One Nucleus is the life sciences network centered on the London – Cambridge – East of England corridor supporting its members in their development activities. It encourages connections and knowledge exchange with an extensive events offer, facilitates workforce development with career and training opportunities and provides operational support with a value-driven purchasing scheme.

Aline Charpentier - Head of Innovation Support

Aline joined One Nucleus in 2010 and covered various roles including European project management and business development, now focusing on Innovation Support. Prior One Nucleus, she worked on technology transfer programmes for the scientific services of the French Embassy in the USA (Boston) and technology scouting at the CEA. She holds a MSc in biochemistry and MBA.

 

Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN)

KTN exists to connect innovators with new partners and new opportunities beyond their existing thinking – accelerating ambitious ideas into real-world solutions. Jane Watkins - Knowledge Transfer Manager, European Programmes

Jane is responsible within KTN for supporting UK companies to build collaborations with European partners for positive change. Jane has over 15 years’ experience supporting SMEs in Open Innovation practices via appointments in both public and private sector organisations. She has extensive knowledge of how to deliver maximum value by supporting growth, internationalisation and scale. Jane has specialist expertise in the management of large European funded business support/innovation projects and is highly knowledgeable about the UK and EU business support landscape and innovation system. Previous roles in include UK National Contact for SMEs and the UK National Programme Coordinator for EUREKA Eurostars.

 

MedCity and Investment Hub

MedCity is the cluster organisation for the world leading health & life sciences sector in London and the Greater South East of England. MedCity supports the expansion of the sector by supercharging innovation and creating jobs by developing the right infrastructure, convening partners and specialist communities and driving investment. MedCity’s Investment Hub community has a strong network of Angel and VC investors, has helped over 80 companies raise finance and leveraged over £30M from the rounds over the last 6 years. Holding 3 pitch events annually for break through life sciences companies raising investment.

Sarah Bruce-White - Partnerships & Programmes Lead

Sarah works as MedCity’s Partnerships & Programme’s Lead, driving our Investment Hub activities, nurturing SME growth, and helping international companies land in the region. Sarah is passionate about developing a digital, data and AI network to help deliver innovation, make an impact, and connect the excellence in the region.

With many years commercial experience in launching medical device companies internationally and bringing new products to market, Sarah’s expertise encompasses successfully raising investment, developing teams, market access, IP, clinical trials, evidence generation, regulatory knowledge and distribution networks. Sarah has a deep understanding of the challenges faced in this area and is keen to use her know-how, enthusiasm and connections to help life sciences companies grow.

Daniel Dearing - Senior Innovation and Growth Specialist

Daniel is an experienced technology commercialisation and innovation management consultant and mentor. He provides advice, coaching and mentoring to technology SMEs, universities and innovation programmes around innovation, technology, marketing, and funding strategies. Daniel has many years of experience in the high-tech sector, around the digital health, communications systems, automotive and defense sectors and has a great deal of experience in the assessment and preparation of grant applications and management of grant-funded projects.
