Newnham College is seeking to recruit a full time, permanent ELECTRICIAN to join the Maintenance team. Working under the direction of the Head of Buildings & Maintenance, the successful applicant will provide efficient and professional expertise and skills as an electrician and be willing to be an effective team player in a department where all the trades are represented.
Experience at working to the highest standards of compliance and health and safety regulations, this role includes work, which is both reactive and preventative, working with outside contractors and inhouse trades and requires a degree of sensitivity with regards to the historical nature of the College buildings, some of which are listed. This role is varied and interesting and represents is an excellent opportunity to use skills and experience in both a historical context and covering the Colleges newer buildings and properties.
This is a permanent, full-time post, working 37.5 hours a week. The salary is paid at point 40 on the University’s single salary spine, currently £37,369 per annum. Flexibility is required as the post includes “on call duty” to respond to out of hours emergencies. This is shared with the rest of the team and is organised on a rotational basis and attracts separate remuneration. This post is pensionable under the College’s attractive contributory pension scheme, with an employer contribution rate of 14.5%. Other benefits include a holiday entitlement of 33 days per year (inclusive of bank holidays); an additional paid day off on your birthday, a free meal when on duty; free car parking and free use of the College’s gym facilities.
