Programme Coordinator, Centre for Climate Repair (Fixed Term)

The University of Cambridge is one of the world's oldest universities and leading academic centres. If you're looking for a new challenge and would like excellent benefits, extensive learning opportunities and a stimulating working environment in return for your skills and contribution, there could be a job here for you.

About us

The Centre for Climate Repair is a multi-disciplinary Centre hosted in the Department of Applied Mathematics & Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) led by a Director and three Deputy Directors who, together with support from a University Board, provides strategic oversight and direction of the Centre.

The Centre for Climate Repair (CCR) is focused on supporting research to further knowledge in three main areas: emissions Reduction; greenhouse gas Removal; and Refreezing the Arctic or Climate Interventions. However, most of the research activities are in the Removal and Refreeze area. The Centre develops interdisciplinary research projects in these areas, raises funds for the projects, and then oversees their delivery.

The programmes/projects that fall under CCR's umbrella each contain research staff and students, each with their own budgets and grant milestones/deadlines. The Centre's Programme Coordinators will work to oversee and manage the programmes to ensure their successful delivery and completion.

The role

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the delivery and coordination of key research programmes, working closely with the Senior Programme Coordinator and Project Leads. This is an exciting opportunity for an organised, proactive and collaborative individual to contribute to a range of programme activities and help ensure that projects are delivered effectively and successfully.

The role will provide a broad range of administrative and project coordination responsibilities, including coordinating meetings and events, supporting grant reporting, and helping to deliver programme-related activities. Working with colleagues and stakeholders across the Centre, the postholder will have the opportunity to build strong relationships and gain experience across a diverse portfolio of research activity.

Around 50% of the role will be dedicated to supporting the Communications team, under the supervision of the Communications Coordinator. This will involve contributing to the delivery of CCR's communications and engagement strategy across the Centre's activities, helping to raise the profile of its research, programmes and impact and ensuring that its work reaches a wide range of audiences.

This is a varied and engaging opportunity to contribute across both programme coordination and communications, playing an important role in supporting the delivery, visibility and impact of CCR's work.

About you

We are looking for an organised, proactive and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working across a varied range of projects and activities. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

You will be a collaborative and approachable colleague who can build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, while also working independently and taking initiative. An interest in research, communications and engagement, together with a flexible and collaborative approach, will be important in supporting the successful delivery and promotion of CCR's work.

All CCR staff follow a hybrid working pattern, and although CCR is located within the Department of Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) on Wilberforce Road, some travel to the Department of Engineering on Trumpington Street will be required.

A scientific background is not required for this role, but an interest in supporting research in this area would be beneficial.
