We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Service Manager to lead a multidisciplinary maintenance team delivering essential front-line responsive repair and maintenance services across a complex teaching, research and operational estate.
This is a key leadership role focused on service responsiveness, operational performance and continuous improvement. You will lead a customer-focused team, drive service innovation and ensure critical facilities remain safe, operational and fully supported.
Role Overview
Based within the University's Estates Division Asset Management Team, you will lead the delivery and development of responsive maintenance services across a diverse estate, including advanced teaching laboratories and specialist research facilities. The role combines strategic leadership with operational delivery, focusing on performance, innovation and stakeholder engagement to ensure services continue to meet evolving customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary technical team.
- Promote a culture of accountability, customer focus and continuous improvement. Service Delivery
- Ensure responsive repair and maintenance services meet agreed performance standards.
- Drive a "fix first time" approach to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor performance and implement improvements where required.
Operational Leadership
- Provide calm and effective leadership during high-pressure situations.
- Maintain safe, reliable services with minimal disruption to teaching and research activities.
Innovation and Service Development
- Review customer needs and service performance to identify improvement opportunities.
- Drive innovation, efficiency and continuous service development.
About You
You will have:
- Experience leading technical maintenance or facilities teams within a complex environment.
- A strong track record of improving service performance and customer outcomes.
- Experience driving service innovation and operational improvement.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively under pressure.
