Addenbrooke's A&E is under pressure

Cambridge University Hospitals Trust is asking the public to think twice before attending Addenbrooke's Hospital Accident & Emergency department.

A spokesperson said:  “The Trust is experiencing extremely high numbers of people attending our A&E department.

“While we are prioritising treating the sickest patients first, about 15 per cent of people attending A&E could have been treated elsewhere.

“Only those with life-threatening injuries should attend A&E. For non-emergencies, we are asking the public to think twice before coming to A&E and use alternatives, such as GPs, pharmacies, NHS 111 and minor injury units.”
