Cambridge Cleantech and Oxfordshire Greentech are proud to invite climate-positive entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to investors at its annual pitching-and-investment event Cleantech Venture Day, which will be held online on 25th March 2021.

This event is a fantastic opportunity for cleantech SMEs and businesses seeking to secure funding, as well as for experienced fund managers, business angels, and corporate investors eager to invest in disruptive climate-positive technologies. Through pre-matched meetings between innovators and investors, we bring you the opportunity to build the right connections from the comfort of your homes.

“We are hearing a clear message from business leaders, senior academics and politicians that nobody wants a repeat of the economic conditions which we are in at the moment in five or 10 years’ time, caused not by an epidemic, but by the climate crisis. The solutions which will be presented by innovative cleantech companies at the Venture Day will help to achieve the target set out in the UN Sustainable Development Goals and in so doing, help create a more sustainable future for all,” said Martin Garratt, CEO of Cambridge Cleantech.

Meeting place for climate-positive SMEs and investors

Cleantech Venture Day has been a trailblazing event for the cleantech community since its launch in Finland in 2006. Cambridge Cleantech has been running the event in the UK since 2017. Over the past 15 years, over 250 companies have pitched at Cleantech Venture Days and as much as 650 million euros invested as a result.

Our last pitching-and-investment event, which took place in a digital format in November 2020, received 120 applications and was attended by nearly 250 individuals. We were able to set up 124 one-to-one meetings during the event, including 63 pre-matched meetings between investors and start-ups.

As the fight to tackle the climate emergency gets more urgent every day, we are looking for innovative solutions from around the world to help solve the following challenges from the UK Government’s Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution:

  • Point 4: Accelerating the shift to zero emission vehicles
  • Point 5: Green public transport, cycling, walking
  • Point 7: Greener building
  • Point 8: Carbon capture, usage and storage

If selected, you will receive extensive expert training on how to improve your pitch and get the opportunity to present your ideas before climate-focused investors.

If you are a cleantech start-up looking for seed/Series A/Series B investment, apply to pitch today.

Here is what Oxwash, one of the companies who pitched at our previous event, had to say: “Pitching at Cleantech Venture Day was an invaluable experience and allowed us to connect with some of the biggest investors in the greentech sector. Cambridge Cleantech are a brilliant organisation and through their introduction we were represented by the Cambridge MBA team in the MIINT competition, winning second place and securing 25K of investment from a US impact fund. I wish all success to this year’s cohort and can confidently say that Cleantech Venture Day will open doors for you in the future!” said Tom de Wilton, COO of Oxwash.

We are thankful to our partners Clean Growth UK, KPMG, Oxfordshire Greentech, Hewitsons, Anglia Ruskin University, KISS, GreenWin and Wallonia for making this event possible.

“Cleantech Venture Day is an opportunity for the cleantech community to support start-ups from various backgrounds and we strongly encourage female founders and entrepreneurs from underrepresented backgrounds to apply,” said Sylvie Russell, Operations Manager at Cambridge Cleantech.
